Dennis R. Joyce, Esq., Solicitor for the SCJAP

Solicitor Joyce has served as the Solicitor for the SCJAP since April, 2014. As Solicitor, he is responsible for giving legal advice to the Association and its Executive Committee, Governing Board and various other Committees. He is also required to publish and edit the Associations monthly publication, the Journal. He graduated from the Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law in 1974. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Judge Advocate General Corps from 1974 – 1977. He has practiced law in Allegheny County since 1978 as a sole practitioner. He served as a magisterial district judge for 35 years in the western suburbs of Allegheny County. He is a Past President of the SCJAP and has chaired and served on many committees of the Association. He has served on many statewide working groups dealing with Weighted Caseload Study, Constables, Truancy and Public Access to Paper Records.  He served on and chaired the PA Supreme Court Minor Court Rules Committee and the MDJS Computer Re-write Committee. He is a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
