Judge Ronald Haggerty Jr. was born and raised in the City of Connellsville, Fayette County, Judge Haggerty has been a Connellsville area resident his entire life. He is a graduate of Connellsville Area High School and Westmoreland County Community College (W.C.C.C.) majoring in Criminal Justice. He went on to complete the W.C.C.C., Municipal Officers Training Academy and began his career with the city of Connellsville Police Department where he retired at the rank of Sergeant in 2010. Over his career, Judge Haggerty was a supervisor of the Fayette County Drug Task Force. He has received advanced training by the PA State Police, the Office of Attorney General, the DEA and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy. Judge Haggerty has successfully conducted countless investigations including homicides, sexual assaults, arsons, accident investigation and juvenile offenses. Judge Haggerty was a court certified expert in the field of drug investigations and is a current instructor for the W.C.C.C. Municipal Police Officers Act 120 Academy.

Judge Haggerty currently resides in Connellsville Township with his wife Jody and they have two children, Seth and Megan. He succeeded his father, Ronald Haggerty as a Magisterial District Judge, where he served from 1998-2009.

Judge Haggerty was elected in 2009 to Judicial District 14-1-02 serving the residents of the City of Connellsville, South Connellsville Borough, Connellsville Township, Bullskin Township, Saltlick Township and Springfield Township. Judge Haggerty is an active member of the Special Court Judges Association of Pennsylvania currently serving as Legislative Committee Chairman. Judge Haggerty previously served as chair to the Vehicle Code Committee.

Judge Haggerty has served as the President, Vice-President and Director of the District 7 Magisterial District Judges Association. Judge Haggerty has also served a past President and Vice-President of the Fayette County Magisterial District Judges Association.

Judge Haggerty is active in his community as a board Director of General Braddock’s Fish Club. He is also a member of King Solomon’s Lodge #346 and the Connellsville Elk’s #503.
