Barry L. Bloss Jr.

The Honorable Barry L. Bloss, Jr., was appointed to serve as Magisterial District Judge for York County by Governor Ed Rendell in July 2009 after winning on both the Democrat and Republican tickets in the Primary election. Judge Bloss’s Court 19-2-01 covers Springettsbury Township and was previously served by Judge Harold Kessler.
Judge Bloss is a graduate of Harrisburg Area Community College
Municipal Police Academy and attended York College of Pennsylvania. Barry retired as a Sergeant with the York City Police Department and, during his 22 years, held the positions of Field Training Officer, School Resource Officer, Quick Response team member and Motorcycle Officer. He also served the department in the areas of accident reconstruction and forensic mapping.
The Judge and his wife Jodi, an RN (Retired) was employed at York Hospital, have been married since 1988. They are the parents of two daughters, both Special Education teachers, have two granddaughters and one grandson. When not on the bench, Judge Bloss loves spending time with family, traveling, and riding his motorcycle.
Judge Bloss is an active volunteer with the Zeredatha-White Rose Lodge No. 451 Free and Accepted Masons, York Royal Arch No. 199, York Council No. 21 Royal and Select Masons, York- Gethsemane Commandery No. 21, York County Motor Officers Association (an organization formed to raise awareness and money used for training, certification, recertification, equipment and expenses for the York County Police Motor Units as they travel for Honor Guard duties).
Judge Bloss is also a founding member of the Renegade Pigs Motorcycle Club of York, PA, a nonprofit organization of active and retired law enforcement, firefighters, and correction officers whose purpose is to raise money for injured/killed public safety officers and other charities of interest
Judge Bloss is the chairman of the SCJAP Vehicle Code Committee, past-president of District IX and past-president of the York County Magisterial District Judges Association.
