David J. Barton
David Barton has served as a magisterial district judge in Allegheny County since 1996. He is also a practicing attorney focusing on commercial disputes, surety and fidelity bond matters, probate litigation, and complex commercial real estate development matters. He was appointed as a judge of the Court of Judicial Discipline in 2015, and was elected its President Judge for 2018-2019. He is an active member of the Special Court Judges Association of Pennsylvania, chairs its ethics committee, and is solicitor for Allegheny County’s MDJs. Since 2015 he has worked to help guide AOPC’s efforts to comply with federal laws on access to justice for limited-English proficient persons. Judge Barton has provided written materials and presented for numerous CLE/CJE programs for diverse audiences ranging from refugee advocacy groups to the bench of the Superior Court of Pennsylvania.
