Michael W Gallagher

Judge Mike Gallagher was elected to his first term in 2016, serving the lower end of Bensalem Township in what has been dubbed, “the busiest court in the county.” The cornerstone of his public service is the idea that the Court System should be available to all people and he remains committed to making justice accessible. Offering night court and partnering with various community organizations, Judge Gallagher is attempting to welcome the public into his courtroom and fostering a greater connection between the police, courts, and citizenry. Prior to being elected Judge, he served as Constable for Bensalem Township for over 20 years. This experience proved invaluable in offering him a unique perspective on the impact the local courts have on the community. Firsthand witness to a number of court proceedings, it afforded him the opportunity to learn all aspects of district court operations and prepared him well for the responsibilities that lie ahead. Working as judge was a very natural progression for Mike Gallagher and one that has served the people well. Mike is a lifelong resident of Bensalem Township. Together, he and his wife Janice of over 40 years raised their son Michael here; a Holy Ghost graduate and now CPA, living in Conshohocken with his wife Beth and their grandson, Michael. Prior to his judgeship, Mike was best known for his role as a small business owner in Bensalem. Both of his deli and produce establishments, DG Farms and J and M’s Deli were true civic partners and beloved in the community. A former Catholic Youth Organization athletic coach and coordinator, Mike has given tireless hours to the betterment of our young people. Past longtime President of the Bensalem Township Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, former member of the Bucks County Prison Board and Community Accountability Program Board, Mike was also a past Man of the Year award winner and current member of the Bensalem Lion’s Club. He is also part of the Bensalem Business Directory, supporting small business owners in the local community. He is certified to teach Continuing Education for Constables with Temple University and happy to be part of the Bucks County Judge’s Association where he served as President for the 2020-2021 term. Judge Gallagher is a full-time judge, committed to being available for the police when needed and keeping his high-volume caseload moving efficiently. When not in the courtroom he can be found working outside, gardening and spending time with his two dogs.
