Judge Michael Defino Jr. of Fayette County was elected in 1999 to the former Judicial District 14-3-03 serving Franklin and Redstone Townships, and was elected in 2005 to serve the residents of Judicial District 14-2-03. District 14-2-03 consists of Brownsville Borough, Brownsville Township, Luzerne Township, and Redstone Township. Judge Defino is the immediate Past President of the Special Court Judges Association of Pennsylvania. Judge Defino has been a member of the SCJAP since 2008. Since that time, Judge Defino has served as past Chair of the Non-Crimes Code Committee, past Chair of the State Conference Committee, and is currently Vice Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee. Before being elected an officer of the Association, Judge Defino served as a member of the executive advisory board of four previous administrations. As a member of the SCJAP, Judge Defino has served as a member of the solicitor search committee and is the point of contact for the 2021 Reestablishment under the purview of the Strategic Planning Committee. As President of the Association Judge Defino and the executive board coordinated with the Supreme Court and the AOPC regarding a pandemic response plan when COVID-19 hit in 2020. Judge Defino has served as past President, Vice President, and Secretary of the Fayette County Magisterial District Judges Association and is the current Treasurer for the Association. Judge Defino has also served as the Magisterial District Judge representative for the Fayette County Criminal Justice Advisory Board since its inception. Judge Defino has served as the past President, Vice President, and Director of the District 7 Magisterial District Judges Association and currently serves as the Secretary. Judge Defino served as the District Conference Chair for Conference 40 held at Nemacolin Woodlands in 2011. In his community Judge Defino is a 22-year member of the Grindstone Lions Club and has served as past President and Vice-President of the club. Judge Defino currently serves as the Roadside Cleanup chair, the Scholarship Committee chair, Club Projects chair, and is assistant to the Secretary for the club. Judge Defino is a 16-year member of the Brownsville Chapter of the Sons of Italy, and currently serves as an officer. Judge Defino has served as Past President of the Brownsville Izaak Walton Chapter, and helped organize the Youth Fishing Rodeo and the Aerator Project at Patsy Hillman Park. Judge Defino is a member of the Brownsville Historical Society. Judge Defino resides in Redstone Township with his beautiful wife Leslie.
