Honorable Tammi L. Forbes was elected as Magisterial District Judge in 2019 and took the bench in January of 2020. From the start of her tenure, Judge Forbes has been actively involved with the Delaware County Magisterial District Judges Association, and the Special Court Judges Association of Pennsylvania (SCJAP). Judge Forbes served as Secretary of the Delco MDJ Association. She is currently president elect for 2024-2025. She is also a member of the Education and Rules Committees of the Special Court Judges Association of Pennsylvania.

Judge Forbes presides over court 32-2-37 in Darby Borough. Her court serves Colwyn, Darby and Sharon Hill Boroughs. Judge Forbes is passionate about serving her community. She was a School Board Director and served as Vice President of the board. Judge Forbes serves as a Commissioner for the Delaware County Women’s Commission, Vice President of her local library association, and Board Member of the Community YMCA of Eastern Delaware County. She is also an active Silver Star member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated.

Prior to being elected Magisterial District Judge she was a K-12 Educator and Special Education Liaison who served regular and special education populations in The Greater Philadelphia area. Having been an educator has been beneficial in many circumstances since transitioning to the bench. She enjoys speaking at schools and welcomes students to shadow her in order to learn about the minor judiciary.

During the COVID-19 Pandemic Judge Forbes demonstrated her service to the community by serving at food giveaways as well as doing personal drop offs to those in need. Judge Forbes has worked with businesses in Delaware County to establish effective in person and online community service opportunities for young and old and that are open to public registration. Judge Forbes is an unapologetically caring Judge.
