Judge Tiffany L. Cummings attended Mansfield University in Tioga County, spending two semesters as an exchange student in Volgograd, Russia. Graduating in 2001, she spent the next several years working in business before deciding got back to school to become a lawyer. After graduating cum laude from Thomas M. Cooley law school in 2011, Judge Cummings opened a private practice in Mansfield, spending about 5 years working as a general practice attorney handling various civil matters as well as doing criminal defense. She represented both private clients and a number of indigent clients though county appointments (public defender cases, for example). In 2016, Judge Cummings became Tioga County’s Assistant District Attorney, and shortly after became the Facilitator for the county Multi-Disciplinary Investigate Team (MDIT), which handles the investigation of child abuse cases and the coordination of efforts between law enforcement, prosecution, human services, and others. Joining Tioga County’s Criminal Justice Advisory Board (CJAB) in early 2017, she eventually became the Co-Chair CJAB and now serves as the Chair. After a few years in the DA’s office, Judge Cummings was elected to office to service as the Magisterial District Judge in Court 04-3-03, which is located in Mansfield, Tioga County. She began her tenure in January 2020.

In her spare time, Judge Cummings has helped with the PA Bar Association’s Young Lawyer Division’s Mock Trial Program, coaching the Mansfield High School team some years and coordinating the regional tournament some other years. She is the county coordinator for the Wills for Heroes program. In regards to non-law-related civic activities, Judge Cummings has been involved at different times over the years in the Fine Arts Forum of Mansfield, the Tioga County Homeless Initiative, the Friends of Tioga-Hammond and Cowanesque Lakes, and the Blossburg Giving Gang (helping with food distribution and deliveries to at an at-risk population in Tioga County during Covid). Judge Cummings currently serves in Kiwanis of Mansfield. In May of 2023, she began a three-year term on the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Board of Governors. Many years after her exchange program in Russia, Judge Cummings ended up marrying “the guy across the hall” from her Russian dormitory room. Judge Cummings and her husband, Aleks reside in Mansfield but enjoy traveling around PA, the U.S. and the world, seeking to experience different cultures.
